1/2 red bell pepper
1/2 green bell pepper

Take your meat out of your skillet and leave in the grease drippings.
3. Add your onions and bell peppers to the skillet with the dripping...Cook them until they are tender and translucent.
4. Now add your garlic along with your spice seasonings to the pepper and onion mixture, mix everything will.
5. Add your cabbage in small batches...If you using a larger pot, add all at 1 time. Now place a cover on top and let your cabbage cook down for at least 5 minutes.
6. Now add your smoke sausage and bacon to the cabbage mixture and let it cook down until your cabbage is tender. Do not add water.

I just loss my husband of 49 years on June 27th. I think we all need some comfort food and love fried cabbage. Thank you for reminding me about it.

ReplyDeleteI'll make this tonight using andouille, double the bacon and add a dash or six of Slap yo Momma hot sauce or Sriracha.
ReplyDeleteI will try this today, looks wonderful. I have creole seasoning but not the other.
ReplyDeleteIf we cannot use salt or pepper, what else can we substitute??
ReplyDeleteI was craving this again the other night. All I had was red cabbage. I was afraid everything would turn purple, or even worse, black. (Who wants to eat black food?) Everything stayed its own color! It was just as good as when I used green cabbage. I love this recipe.
ReplyDeleteWe love fried cabbage so had to try this recipe. Oh yes, it was good! Thanks Ray Mack. When we're in Alabama for the winter, we use Conecuh sausage, so had to make do with Johnsonville. I only had Cajun seasoning, no Creole, so put in more than 1 tsp. of Cajun. We will definitely make this again.
ReplyDeleteAwesome...thank you so much.
