You can prepare your chicken however you want...fry, bake, or grill. This recipe is about the sauce only.

Kansas City BBQ Sauce Recipe

3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
1 1/4 ounce package chili seasoning
3 tablespoons mustard (I used stone ground mustard
1 teaspoons powdered ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon ground mace or nutmeg
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup water
1 32-ounce bottle ketchup
1 to 3 teaspoons liquid smoke

Directions

1. In a large saucepan, combine brown sugar, black pepper, chili seasoning, Ginger, allspice, red pepper and mace.
2. Add vinegar, molasses, mustard, and water. Stir until all of your dry ingredients have dissolved.
3. Stir in the ketchup and liquid smoke. Bring your pot to a boil, stirring constantly to avoid splattering of the sauce.
4. Reduce heat to low, and salma, cover the pot with a lead, for 30 minutes. SERVE WARM.
5. You can store the leftover BBQ sauce in the fridge up to several weeks.

This sauce can be used as a finishing or table sauce for beef, pork, and chicken...I dare you to try it in meatloaf.
